Jan Stick, MLA for Riverdale South
Jan Stick is a long time Yukoner. She moved here in 1980 and has been involved with community ever since through work and volunteer activities. Jan and her husband Ed, raised a son and daughter here, both whom graduated from FH Collins.
Jan worked as a case manager with adults with disabilities at YG Social Services for 16 years. In 1999, Jan along with two partners opened Well-Read Books. Over the years, through the business Jan has supported literacy and the arts in Whitehorse and the communities.
Jan has been recognized for her volunteer and community involvement with the Yukon Commissioner’s Award for Public Volunteer Service and the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. She has been a volunteer with the weekend soup kitchen since its inception over 20 years ago. She has volunteered with the now named Yukon Association for Community Living, Yukon Special Olympics and Whitehorse Community Choir. She also served as a member on the Yukon’s Workers Compensation Health and Safety Appeal Tribunal.
Jan served a term and half as a Whitehorse City Councilor before winning her seat as an MLA for Riverdale South.
