Yukon NDP Leader Kate White to attend Mineral Exploration Roundup in Vancouver

Yukon NDP Leader Kate White will be attending the 2020 Mineral Exploration Roundup.

White is looking forward to take part in Yukon Night, organized by Chamber of Mines as well as the Yukon First Nation Chamber of Commerce Annual Roundup reception. The Roundup itself is to take place from January 20th to 23rd, with a pre-conference on the 18th and 19th. The Roundup will bring together mineral exploration stakeholders from all over Canada to Vancouver.

For the Yukon NDP, this will be an important opportunity to speak to the value of mineral exploration in Yukon. White specified that the importance is in the conversation. “I’m looking forward to meeting with industry representatives, First Nation leaders, prospectors and geoscience experts. I think we can all benefit from opening up the conversation as to how we envision the future of mining and mining exploration in Yukon.”

White is also hopeful to learn more about new innovation and partnership strategies at the Roundup. “I’m expecting many interesting conversations about reconciliation as the industry adapts to the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) in some jurisdictions,” said White. “And like all industries in this day and age, the mining industry also has to factor in climate change into their operations. I look forward to discussions about how renewable energy presents opportunities for innovation. “
